Krom River Estuary Birding

From the N2 proceed through Humansdorp through Main Street turning left at the T junction at the end of Main Street. Follow the signs to St. Francis Bay. The estuary is accessible south of the road bridge.

In summer this is an excellent area for Terns and Waders which are best seen on the incoming tide. Species often seen include Lesser Sand Plover, Sandwich Plover, Ruddy Turnstone, Caspian, Sandwich, Swift & Common Terns, African Black Oyster Catcher, White-fronted & Ringed Plover. Out of range species have included African Golden Plover, Pectoral Sandpiper & Gull-billed Tern.
