Take the N2 out of Gqeberha in the direction of Cape Town. Turn off at Humansdorp and at the end of Main Street, turn left at the T junction and follow the signs to St. Francis Bay. The estuary is accessible south of the road bridge.
In summer this is an excellent area for terns and waders which are best seen on the incoming tide. Species often seen include Lesser Sand Plover, Sandwich Plover, Ruddy Turnstone, Caspian, Sandwich, Swift and Common Terns, African Black Oyster Catcher, White-fronted and Ringed Plover. Out of range species have included African Golden Plover, Pectoral Sandpiper and Gull-billed Tern.
